Welcome to the HINTE's page. This is genealogy project to trace the surname of Hinte, back to Germany.

As there are not many Hinte's in the US (about 70) and not many more in Germany (about 250), the  task is to trace the surname back to 10th century Germany where the name first appears. We hope to connect the surname to the city of Hinte, Germany.

I would like to thank Ms. Vickie Mayers, a descendent of my great grandfather, and a descendent of my grandfather's brother. She has provided me with a lot of information that has helped to put this all together.

Also Karen Dare, who put it in a book form "Tracing the Descendents of Christian and Henry Hinte".

And we know that there are some seven families still in the city of Mulheim, Germany. So there is still a lot of work to do.
